Further to our recent article, Toner Prices Continue to Rise, we have learned from one of our suppliers that Canon will be increasing the price of their consumables as of April 27th. This increase comes just two months after Canon’s most recent price rise and follows a spate of similar rises from other manufacturers over the last few months, including Ricoh who are set to announce an increase in hardware and consumable prices(see also Brother Announce Price Increase).
As yet Canon has not announced the level of the increase but we have been warned that it is likely to be significant, probably around 10% or more. Consumers may see a slight delay before the price increase is passed on as there will be some cheaper stock left in the distribution channels. However, it is advisable to place your Canon consumable order before April 27th to benefit from current pricing.
Details of the Ricoh price increase have yet to be confirmed but we understand that consumables will go up by 10-12% and hardware by 5-10%. Ricoh are expected to make an official announcement on April 17th and the increases will be effective immediately.
In addition, Dell has announced that it will be increasing cost of its multifunction printers in May. Again, details are sparse but we will provide further information as it becomes available.
