Brother has refreshed its mono MFP range with the addition of three new devices, the DCP-8110DN, MFC-8510DN and MFC-8520DN. The new machines fall roughly in the middle of the Brother range, with prices starting at £250 ex VAT for the 8110DN and rising to £325 for the 8520DN. So, what can you expect for your money?
The DCP-8110DN features a 36 page per minute print speed, scanner, copier and duplex as standard, not to mention PostScript 3 emulation and a USB port for direct printing and scanning. All these specifications are standard on the three models, as are Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print, which are becoming increasingly popular. As the world becomes more mobile, printing on the move is becoming more important and AirPrint gives you the ability to print wirelessly from an iOS device, whilst Cloud Print enable you to print from almost anywhere, as long as you’re connected to the web.
Brother includes a 3 year warranty as standard, which sets it apart from most of its competitors and, thanks to an 8,000 page high capacity toner, the new MFPs can boast some of the lowest running costs in their class.
Moving up the range, an extra £30 for the MFC-8510DN buys you a Super G3 fax with 500 page memory and fax forwarding. Add a further £45 and the memory capacity doubles from 64MB to 128MB in the MFC-8520DN, making it quicker and easier to process large, complex image files.
