For the first time in 2012, mobile devices overtook desktop devices as the most common way to access the internet. This shift affects the way we print, too, and there is pressure on businesses to provide dynamic print solutions that can keep up. Making it easy for your employees, or customers, to print wherever and whenever they need to can give you a competitive edge. In short, you need to go mobile.
Wireless printing is fast becoming standard in home inkjet printers but the increasing use of mobile devices in businesses is driving demand for more laser WiFi printers. The popularity of BOYD (Bring Your Own Device) has increased and is expected to continue rising in 2013. This means that providing access to a wireless-enabled printer or MFP is an important consideration for many businesses.
There are currently two Xerox MFPs available from Printware with built-in WiFi – the WorkCentre 6015NI and WorkCentre 3325DNI. The 6015NI is a 12 page per minute colour MFP with copy, scan and fax as standard and useful features like scan to network, e-mail or USB. As Xerox’s smallest multifunction device, the 6015NI is ideal for small offices and workgroups.
The WorkCentre 3325DNI is a higher-spec mono 35 page per minute MFP with PostScript 3 emulation and Gigabit networking. With high capacity 11,000-page toners and a maximum duty cycle of 80,000 pages, the 3325DNI is designed for heavier use than the 6015NI and is suitable for more demanding applications where colour is not required.
Both devices are ideal for printing from a mobile device in a small office but larger organisations may benefit from a more integrated mobile printing solution.
If you have a mobile workforce that needs ready access to off-site printing facilities, Xerox Mobile Print offers a choice of flexible solutions.
Xerox Mobile Print Cloud, as the name suggests, is a cloud-based mobile printing solution which allows your employees to print to any enabled device whilst out of the office. Documents can be printed via the Xerox Mobile Print Portal app, which can also locate your nearest enabled printer and preview documents, or via e-mail. Getting started is straightforward; download the app for iOS or Android then create a user account, adding your company details and registering any printer you want to make available for mobile printing.
Almost any printer can be added, regardless of brand, as long as it is networked and running Adobe PostScript 2/3 or PCL 5/6. Xerox Mobile Print supports common document formats so that Microsoft Office and pdf documents can be printed without losing any formatting.
Xerox Mobile Print Solution (MPS) is a server based solution which stores documents on a dedicated client server and offers enhanced functionality. MPS is an on-site system which allows visitors to your site to access your printers without connecting to your IT network. Lindner Hotels implemented the system in its hotels to make it easier for business guests to work during their stay, improving both efficiency and customer service.
The modern workforce is becoming increasingly mobile and employers are more aware of the need for flexible working practices. Wireless and mobile printing solutions can give your business the agility it needs to stay ahead so, if you’d like to know more about Xerox wireless printers or Xerox Mobile Print, please call us on 023 9262 3300.
