Epson has just announced that 105 of its printers will support Apple AirPrint worldwide. As Apple announces increased sales of the iPhone and iPad for the last quarter, compatibility with iOS devices is an important consideration for other manufacturers.
Despite the surge in popularity of Google Play, the Apple App Store still commands the largest market share in app sales. Daily sales growth for the App Store was 21% over the last four months and average daily revenue in November was $15 million.
So, apps are big business and, with more people bringing their own mobile devices to work, it’s becoming increasingly important to have an AirPrint printer in the office. AirPrint is an iOS printing system which is already integrated into apps such as Safari. There are also many third party apps on the App Store which make use of the AirPrint system, making it even easier and more convenient to print from an iOS device.
Epson has recognised the importance of making it quick and simple to print e-mails, photos and documents directly from an iPad or iPhone.
"Epson's widespread support of AirPrint demonstrates our global leadership and commitment to providing customers with easy printing solutions that meet their evolving mobile business and personal lifestyle," said Ian Cameron, general manager, Global Web & Communications, Seiko Epson Corporation.
