A Quick Guide to AirPrint

From the Printware Blog on Friday 21st June 2013 in Consumer Advice

What is AirPrint? AirPrint is Apple’s wireless printing software, designed to make printing from your iPad or iPhone really easy and convenient. AirPrint is built into all Apple operating systems from OS X Lion and iOS 4.2 onwards, so there’s no need to download any additional software or drivers.

It was possible to print directly from an Apple mobile device before AirPrint but it meant downloading third party software and using complicated work-arounds. Now, it’s as simple as pressing a couple of buttons, provided that the printer and mobile device are connected to the same WiFi network.

Because AirPrint is built in to iOS, it’s possible to print from within apps such as Safari, Mail & Photos, as well as some third-party apps. To print using AirPrint, just tap the action icon within the app, then tap the print button, select print settings and then tap print – easy.

In the beginning, only a handful of printers supported AirPrint but, now, Epson alone has 105 AirPrint compatible printers. This means that there is an ever-expanding list of printers that will allow you to print content directly from your Apple mobile device. Great news if you want to print out your favourite photos etc without all the hassle.

Feel free to check out the full range of AirPrint printers on the Printware website and, if there’s anything else you need to know, please give one of our trained experts a call on 02392 623300.
