Printware celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year
Printware has thrived and grown in an era when 70% of businesses fail within ten years and the printer market has declined. During the last quarter of a century the UK has seen five different Prime Ministers and two major recessions. To be successful for so long and through such difficult times, it’s vital to keep sight of what’s important: commitment, value and working together.
The Printware story began in 1989 with a small business which quickly grew to become the UK’s leading independent supplier of laser printers. The Danwood Group bought Printware in 2007, marking the start of a new phase in our evolution.
The smaller company could easily have been absorbed by the corporate giant but Printware kept its identity, agility and unique position in the market place. Danwood recognised that the next-day business model and strong brand awareness developed by Printware were an asset to the group as a whole.
The arrangement also allowed Printware to enjoy the best of both worlds: Europe’s largest service network and a rapid fulfilment setup. This combination of strength and flexibility meant that we could adapt to the challenges of the global recession, thriving when others were facing extinction.
Danwood and Printware are now entering an exciting new phase of development, with Danwood investing £5 million in technology and infrastructure improvements. As a result, Printware is also expanding rapidly. Danwood is adopting some key Printware strategies, with a more responsive, customer-focused approach. Printware, in turn, is building on Danwood’s processes, to reach more customers, more quickly. This will enable us to deliver even higher levels of customer satisfaction.
Our talented and ambitious team is buzzing with fresh ideas and the desire to be even better. People come and go, technology advances; markets change but some things don’t. Printware’s success is rooted in our unwavering commitment to putting you, our customers, first.
Part of that commitment is finding ways to provide even more choice and deliver even greater value. Printware has always been about creating solutions rather than just selling printers and we’re applying that philosophy to our expanding portfolio and services. In the near future, Printware will be able to offer you complete office solutions, incorporating everything from IT equipment to… well, you’ll have to wait and see.
