Samsung has won seven Outstanding Achievement awards for its printers and multifunction printers at the Buyers Laboratory 2014 Summer Pick Awards. The Korean company has tasked itself with becoming the world’s leading printer manufacturer and driving printer innovation. Seven Buyers Laboratory (BLI) awards would suggest that things are moving the right way.
The awards for superior performance in the printer category were given to the Xpress C1810/1860 series, M2835/2885 series, and the MultiXpress CLX-8640/8650 series.
The Xpress C1810/ C1860 series took the awards for Outstanding Personal Colour Printer, and MFP, thanks to their full colour touch screen and integrated NFC technology. NFC (Near Field Communication) allows users with a compatible smartphone and the Samsung Mobile Print App to scan and print simply by tapping the phone against the printer.
As mobile usage continues to expand rapidly, there is increasing demand for mobile printing and for ways to make it quicker and easier. Samsung’s NFC technology and mobile printing apps do exactly that.
This same combination of speed and ease of use saw Samsung scoop two awards, for the Xpress M2835 and M2885, in the mono printer and MFP categories.
‘With the Xpress M2835/2885’s integrated NFC technology, mobile printing couldn’t be easier: I can just tap my NFC-enabled smart phone on the printer and MFP, the Samsung Mobile Print App automatically downloads and my phone connects to the printer and MFP so I can print my job right away.’ Marlene Orr, BLI Senior Analyst.
It wasn’t just the smaller devices that cleaned up, as the CLX-8650 received an award for Outstanding A4 Colour MFP for Large Workgroups. The CLX-8650 was also recognised, along with the CLX-8640, with Outstanding Achievement in Energy Efficiency. Both machines consume less energy than competing devices and can help firms reduce their environmental impact.
