Now is the Time to Switch to Solid Ink

From the Printware Blog on Tuesday 11th November 2014 in New Products, News

We need to stop using fossil fuels by 2100. That’s the view of the IPCC, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which is backed by the UN.

Making the green choice

It sounds like a monumental challenge but the message from the UN is clear – it’s both achievable and affordable.

Any large or complex task can be accomplished by breaking it down into smaller jobs. It’s the same with climate change – if we all make a few small adjustments, we can make a real difference.

This means putting more thought into buying decisions and making the eco-friendly choice when there’s one available. If you want to reduce your energy consumption and CO2 emissions, buying the right printer can help.

Plenty of printers are Energy Star certified but few can match the green credentials of Xerox solid ink printers. Solid ink generates up to 90% less waste than laser – that means less packaging, less space and lower emissions.

Xerox Solid Ink

Xerox has just launched its latest solid ink printer, the ColorQube 8580. The DN version is, of course, Energy Star certified, which means that it maximises efficiency to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Maximising efficiency. That’s an important point. Energy Star certificates are only awarded to devices that deliver on emissions while maintaining performance. And that’s what makes the 8580 such a great machine – it can help you meet your environmental targets and drive your business at the same time.

Saving the planet is a noble cause but no-one’s going to buy a product that doesn’t deliver results. Solid ink printers certainly deliver and they’ve best-selling range for years. Why? Low running costs? Great image quality? Of course, but that’s not all.

What’s the number one thing you look for in a printer? Or, to put it another way, what’s the number one thing that you DON’T want your printer to do?

Break down.

Down time costs money, reduces efficiency and slows you down. Missing a deadline because of a broken printer can lose you customers.

High quality colour printing

Solid ink printers have fewer moving parts than laser printers and the inks themselves have none at all. Compare that with a laser toner, which contains up to 70% of the printer’s imaging system. Fewer moving parts and a simpler printing system mean there’s less to go wrong.

Less to go wrong means less WILL go wrong. Less down time, less hassle, less stress. All of which leaves you free to get on with the important business of running your business.

On the rare occasions that you find yourself thinking about your printer, you can content yourself with the knowledge that you’re doing your bit for the environment – and you’ve made the right decision for your business.

If you haven’t already made the switch to solid ink, now’s the time. And if you have, this could be the perfect time to upgrade to a ColorQube 8580. Call our expert team to find out why.
