Green Swaps for the Office

From the Printware Blog on Tuesday 8th September 2015 in Consumer Advice, Environment, News, Resources

The number of businesses working for their green credentials today is undeniably on the rise. Not only does this mean more is being done to help save the planet, but it also gives companies a chance to find their place in green, green society.

If you haven’t yet made the transition from waster to eco-friendly worker, you may be wondering what you can do to make the switch. If this sounds like you or you’re simply looking for new ways to implement green strategies in the workplace, read on.

Go green

In this blog, we will be taking a peek at just three green swaps for the office.

Swap: 50-Page Printouts

For: PDFs

Preparation for meetings, even internal ones, is key. Not only does it help to have an agenda, but it is also worth making sure everyone has relevant resources and tools.

So, once you’ve got everything ready in digital form, what’s next? Well, usually you’d head over to the printer, after selecting the print option on your documents, and wait for your trusty pal to churn out 50 odd pages of text and images.

Not only is this a costly choice, but you aren’t doing your part for the environment by using that much paper, especially knowing your employees will lose the sheets before they make it back to their desks. So, what can you do? Well, instead of printing a mass of documents, consider using digital PDFs.

Yes, PDFs. It’s finally time to put those dusty office tablets to good use by sending everyone a copy of the PDF for the meeting. This allows them to keep track of the agenda whilst keeping an eye on the time to minus chit-chat. This also enables team members to get actively involved without falling behind due to stacks of paper.

Swap: Standby

For: The ‘Off’ Button

If you’re the last one to leave the office, you may be getting tired of blinking lights and sleeping monitors when all you want is the comfort of your own home. You see, even when technology is left on standby, it still uses a fair amount of energy, which, of course, is going to waste.

So, instead of leaving the unlucky individual who shuts down with the job, encourage your employees to check their equipment before they leave.

This includes plug sockets as well that may have tablet or phone chargers still plugged in. This is not only harmful to the environment, but also unsafe for unsuspecting employees.

Swap: Paper and Printer Cartridges

For: Recycled Counterparts

One of the best ways you can switch to eco-friendly practices is by using recycled printer cartridges and paper. This not only helps to save the trees; it also protects wildlife from harmful toxins commonly found in these cartridges.

If you’re unsure of where to purchase cartridges, then look no further than Printware. We have a full range of printing supplies that are both eco-friendly and affordable. Our collection of products is just the thing for switching to more environmentally friendly practices and doing your part for the planet.

So, next time you’re struggling for ideas on how to go eco-friendly, remember these three green swaps.
