Which is Best?

From the Printware Blog on Wednesday 16th December 2015 in Consumer Advice, News, Resources

When it comes to choosing the right technology for your office or workplace, there are many issues that need addressing before you make your decision. For many businesses, the cost is always a dominating factor, as is usage, page quality, speed and cost of consumables.

Here at Printware, we believe that any environmentally friendly workplace is the way forward. Cutting down on waste, resources and cutting costs without impacting on the quality of work and your businesses reputation, is something that we pride ourselves on.

Both laser and inkjet printers have their merits, of course, but choosing the right one for your business is what matters.

Which is best?

LASER

Laser printers utilise an electrostatic digital printing process, whereby a laser beam forms a pattern of electrostatically charged electrons onto a rotating drum. As they fall away from the drum, they attract toner, which is then fixed into place on the page, through the application of heat.

Laser printing produces high-quality work; consistently and accurately. They print at a high page-per-minute rate and pages dry very quickly, making duplex printing very accessible. The capabilities to produce sleek, professional prints with both typed copy and images, is essential to many businesses. Therefore, a laser printer might be of use.

If so, a laser printer might be just what you need.

INKJET

Inkjet printers create documents by spraying tiny jets of ink at the sheet of paper and are the most common printers on the market. Inkjet printers are relatively inexpensive, depending on size and capabilities.

Documents printed are high quality, subject to the care that is provided towards the printer and print head. Many printers have up to 1200 DPI print resolution, providing professional and clean documents. Pages take a few seconds longer to dry, but the technology used in inkjet printers is significantly cheaper than that in laser printers.

If this sounds feasible for your business, consider purchasing an inkjet printer.

So, which do you choose, between laser and inkjet printers? For those businesses with high volume printing needs (including images and full pages), and a bigger budget, we would recommend a laser printer. For businesses that require day to day printing and occasional high volume use, we would suggest an inkjet printer.

Whatever you decide, laser and inkjet printers, as well as all necessary consumables, can be bought online from Printware. For more information, hints, tips and advice, please keep reading our blog or contact our friendly team.
