What a difference a tree makes

From the Printware Blog on Tuesday 9th August 2011 in Environment

Cool Earth would like to say a big thank you to Printware's customers for helping to protect 41 acres of endangered Amazon rainforest. Each tree plays a specific role in the forest, locking in carbon and acting as a habitat to thousands of species. Helping to keep these trees standing and protecting them 24 hours around the clock are the indigenous people Cool Earth partners.

Your funds are also helping to provide these families with a better standard of living and enabling them to provide for their families. One of the items that the Ashaninka women have asked for is material to make clothes for their children. Many people still wear traditional cushmas which are perfect for the rainforest, keeping off the flies and acting like a big blanket at night.

So as well as protecting trees, Printware customers have helped give cloth, thread and needles to the local women in Cutivireni. Some of the women will use bark from a specific tree to dye the cloth and turn it a striking orange colour – bark from a tree that you've helped to keep standing.
