A quick trawl through a few print- and  technology-themed websites, blogs and social media feeds will probably give you the impression that 3D printers are about to take over the world. The technology has been with us for some time but, thanks to a number of recent developments and the interested generated at CES 2012, 3D printing is a hot topic again. It could be that 3D printing is finally about to come of age.
