Kodak has announced that it will stop selling consumer inkjet printers in 2013 as it seeks to emerge from bankruptcy next year. The American imaging company which pioneered affordable camera and film is reorganising to try and generate more cash flow and will focus more on commercial digital printing.  Printware Helps Dreams Come TrueBack in June a team from Printware took part in the South Downs Dash to raise money for Dreams Come True. Walking 40 miles across the Downs, the team braved blisters, cramps and the unpredictable British weather to bring some joy to the lives of terminally and seriously ill children. In a move that has surprised almost no-one, Lexmark has announced that it is pulling out of the inkjet printer market entirely. This follows its announcement last month that it would no longer be producing consumer inkjet printers and will allow Lexmark to focus on more profitable areas of its business. HP has reported a record loss of $8.9 billion for the quarter ending July 31st. The loss is easily the biggest in HP's history and largely due to an $8bn write-down related to its acquisition of IT services company EDS. However, HP CEO Meg Whitman remains confident about the company's future and points out that HP is in the early stages of a long restructuring process. Following several years of falling sales and declining revenue, Lexmark has pulled out of the consumer inkjet market. The move is intended to allow Lexmark to focus on its core business of laser and business inkjet machines, which has been growing steadily.  Printware Rallies Round for HospiceA team from Printware will be making the arduous drive from Wimborne in Dorset to Loch Lomond in the west of Scotland to raise money for charity. Julia's House, which cares for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, is having to cut back on the services it provides so the organisers of the Air and a Prayer Rally are trying to raise much-needed funds to keep it open. Canon, one of the world’s largest printing and imaging companies, has had a bid accepted for Oce, Europe’s largest printer manufacturer. Oce’s management and shareholders have accepted an offer of 730 million euros in a deal which Canon hopes will make it the largest copier company in the world.  Beat the VAT IncreaseAll good things must come to an end and, as of January 1st, the rate of VAT will return to its previous level.
