Tallygenicom customers left in limbo since it went out of business have finally been given some reassurance as its European operations have now been acquired by DASCOM, a major supplier of matrix and thermal printers in the Far East. DASCOM is now able to supply and support the full range of Tally printers and Printware is working in partnership with DASCOM to ensure that Tally customers have access to hardware, supplies and accessories.


Konica Minolta Reduces Consumable Prices

No, it's not a typo - Konica Minolta have dropped the price of their entire range of printer consumables. After months of taking a hammering, the pound has rallied slightly against the euro and Konica Minolta is the first manufacturer to put its money where its mouth is and act accordingly. Prices have already been reduced by 8% across the board and Printware is passing the savings on to its customers in full.


Printware Benefits from Danwood Deal with Xerox

Printware's parent company, Danwood, has signed a major new contract with Xerox which will enable it to sell and service Xerox's complete range of office and production products. Since Danwood's acquisition of Printware, both companies have benefited enormously from each other's strengths and unique position within the marketplace. Printware is the UK's largest independent supplier of office printing solutions and Xerox's largest independent European reseller, while Danwood is Europe's largest provider of document and imaging solutions. The new deal moves Printware's long standing and extremely productive relationship with Xerox to another level.


Canon Announces Price Increases for July

We have learned that Canon will be increasing the cost of the hardware and consumables again, as of July 13th. This comes in the wake of several increases in recent months from Canon and other printer manufacturers, as discussed in our previous article, Toner Prices Continue to Rise. Fluctuations in the value of sterling against the yen and the euro are being blamed for increased costs, which are continuing to up drive prices for consumers.


New Print Managed Service from Epson

Epson have launched their Managed Print Service, aimed at medium to large organisations who wish to improve the efficiency of their printer fleet and reduce printing costs. Managed Print Service is a bespoke solution with pricing tailored to match the business needs and includes a click charge service so that customers only pay for what they print. Unlike Ricoh Click, pricing is based, not just on the number of clicks, but also on the coverage of the printed documents. Although pricing is bespoke, this would seem to be of more benefit to organisations printing lower coverage documents.


Ricoh Click Goes Live

Ricoh's new Click service has now gone live, giving consumers the opportunity to benefit from straightforward pricing, transparent billing and a true pay-per-click service. Ricoh Click was first announced by Printware in April, in our article, Ricoh Launch New Click Service. Click contracts can be set up on any new Ricoh printer in just a few minutes, there is no minimum charge and billing is in arrears. The pricing is based solely on the number of pages printed and includes the cost of the consumables, servicing and spare parts.


Epson Increases Consumable Prices

This follows similar announcements in recent weeks by Brother, Ricoh and Canon and continues the pattern of rises as predicted in our recent article, Toner Prices Continue to Rise.

This increase comes just two months after Canon’s most recent price rise and follows a spate of similar rises from other manufacturers over the last few months, including Ricoh which is set to announce an increase in hardware and consumable prices.

Toner Prices Continue to Rise

"It was much cheaper than that last time I ordered." With many businesses and consumers struggling to make ends meet, it seems that the cost of printing is continuing to spiral. Consumable prices have risen steadily throughout 2008 and the first quarter of 2009, by an average of 15%, but as much as 30%, each time. Further rises are expected, with Brother and Oki already set to increase the cost of their consumables in April. There is every sign that this trend will continue for the foreseeable future and that other manufacturers will follow suit.
