Scheduled for a February release in the States, the new Pixma printers won't hitting these shores just yet but, if recent experience is anything to go by, they’ll undoubtedly prove popular when they do. OKI has been busily releasing new machines to refresh its printer portfolio over the last couple of months and now it's the turn of the colour laser range to get a revamp. Canon, one of the world’s largest printing and imaging companies, has had a bid accepted for Oce, Europe’s largest printer manufacturer. Oce’s management and shareholders have accepted an offer of 730 million euros in a deal which Canon hopes will make it the largest copier company in the world. See Full Post

It’s not often that a new printer makes us go “ooo!” and even then it’s not usually a bottom-end mono laser printer but Samsung has managed it with the ML-2525 and ML-1915. Xerox has unveiled its successor to the popular Phaser 6130 – the Phaser 6140, which is faster, greener and comes with more options than its older sibling. On the downside, it also costs a great deal more than the printer it’s supposedly replacing. Kyocera is certainly having a busy summer, with several new printers already on the market. Far from resting on its laurels, though, Kyocera has unveiled the FS-C5400DN, its fastest colour laser printer to date. No, it's not a typo - Konica Minolta have dropped the price of their entire range of printer consumables. After months of taking a hammering, the pound has rallied slightly against the euro and Konica Minolta is the first manufacturer to put its money where its mouth is and act accordingly. Prices have already been reduced by 8% across the board and Printware is passing the savings on to its customers in full. See Full Post

Canon has just launched two new all-in-one inkjet printers in the U.S., the Pixma MP560 and MP490. The MP560,
which is a follow-up to the MP620, is Canon's most compact all-in-one inkjet to feature wireless connectivity and an
automatic duplex. It also allows direct printing from a USB flash drive and will create borderless 6in x 4in prints

Kyocera has launched its latest mono A3 printer, the FS-6970DN, which is available now. The FS-6970DN is faster,
at 35 pages per minute, than the FS-6950DN, which it replaces. Memory capacity has been increased from 64MB to
128MB, so the FS-6970DN will handle large or complex print jobs more efficiently than its predecessor. Flexibility
is still key, with the option of adding up to four paper trays to increase paper capacity to 1350 sheets. See Full Post

HP has unveiled the Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart Web, the first home printer in the world to print directly
from the web. HP's TouchSmart technology uses a large touch screen to browse web pages and launch a range of
applications for printing daily news, maps, coupons and more. The apps are pre-loaded on to the printer and it is

Oki has announced the launch of its new desktop mono multifunction printers, the MB200 series, which replace the current B2500 MFP series. The new machines are cheaper and faster B2500 series and will be cheaper to run, particularly if you purchase the higher capacity 5500 page yield toner cartridges. All the models in the MB200 range ship with 2000 page starter toner cartridges, double the capacity that some comparable machines are supplied with. See Full Post

We have learned that Canon will be increasing the cost of the hardware and consumables again, as of July 13th. This comes in the wake of several increases in recent months from Canon and other printer manufacturers, as discussed in our previous article, Toner Prices Continue to Rise. Canon has launched two new additions to its Selphy range, the Selphy CP790 and CP780, which will be available from July. The CP780 comes in a choice of four colours for the image conscious, while the CP790 features a more user friendly layout with large buttons and the Easy Scroll Wheel for simpler navigation. Kodak has recently directed its considerable resources towards marketing its new range of inkjet printers. Having succeeded in its original aim of bringing imaging into people's daily lives with affordable, easy-to-use cameras, Kodak is on a mission to cut the cost of printing photos at home. It claims that its ESP all-in-one printers can save up to £75 per year on consumable costs compared with similar inkjet printers.
