New Epson Printer Aimed at Photo Enthusiasts

Epson has announced the launch of its new all-in-one inkjet printer, the Stylus Photo PX650, which is due on September 1st. According to Epson, it has been specifically designed to meet the needs of digital photography enthusiasts and combines fast print speeds with exceptional quality.

The Stylus Photo PX650 features a 1200dpi photo scanner that Epson claim will allow users to scan, copy and print photos that exceed lab quality. It also uses Epson Claria Photographic ink for life-like photos with smooth gradations and subtle tones that are meant to last for 200 years.

Photos can be printed directly from a memory card or PictBridge camera, with the PX650's LCD screen allowing users to edit images without the need for a PC. The PX650 also claims a print speed of 12 seconds for a 10cm x 15cm photo, which is pretty impressive if it's borne out.

This all sounds extremely promising and, with a recommended retail price of £129.99, the PX650 sounds like good value. If it lives up to the hype, the PX650 should be an extremely capable printer but all we have to go on at the moment is Epson's press release so forgive us if we don't get carried away just yet.
