Clever Little Mono Printers from Samsung

With so many new printers being launched at the moment, it’s sometimes difficult to know which one to write about first, especially if we’re struggling to find anything interesting to say about them. This wasn’t a problem with the new Samsung printers which come with a couple of clever features that will be much more useful than some of the gimmicks we’ve seen lately.

The Samsung ML-1915 and ML-2525 are relatively cheap, low-spec mono laser printers with print speeds of 18 and 24 pages per minute respectively. On the face of it, not the most exciting of prospects but Samsung has included a couple of features which should make these new machines a bit more fun and easy to use than the average laser printer.

Print Screen allows you to print whatever’s on the screen at the touch of a button and is especially useful for printing web pages. Pressing the button for less than two seconds simply prints what you can see on the screen, while pressing it for more than two seconds will print only the active window.

The second useful feature is AnyWeb Print which allows you to drag and drop content from multiple web pages on to a single blank document without resizing or editing. This means that you can pull together information from several different sources quickly and easily and save the resultant page as a tiff or pdf file, which can then be printed using Print Screen or via the print menu.

Other than these two features, the new Samsung’s are fairly unremarkable; the purchase price is about what you’d expect, running costs are average and the specification is basic to say the least. Without Print Screen and AnyWeb Print the ML-1915 and ML-2525 would be decent little mono printers; capable but not necessarily standing out from the competition. With these features, they offer users a new level of functionality and ease of use. Now let’s have them on colour printers!
