Brother has definitely been keeping busy this autumn with yet more new printers on the market – this time in the mono multifunction range. The MFC-8370DN and MFC-8380DN slot in just below the range-topping MFC-8800 series, with print speeds of 28 and 30 pages per minute respectively. First page out time is an impressive 8.5 seconds and duplex printing is up to 13 sides per minute.
All the usual features are there, including Secure Print, N-up printing and Auto Reduction, along with automatic duplexing and direct USB printing. Both devices also feature a range of scan and fax functions for maximum flexibility. Documents can be scanned to e-mail, OCR (Optical Character Reader) file, network, FTP or USB flash drive. Faxes can be sent and received via a PC or automatically forwarded to or retrieved from another location.
Making full use of these features can improve your document workflow and reduce the amount of hard copies you need to print. If saving the world is your cup of tea, you’ll also be delighted to know that the MFC-8370DN and MFC-8380DN are Energy Star and Blue Angel certified.
Other than the small difference in print speed, the main difference between the two machines is the option of adding another 250-sheet paper tray to the MFC-8380DN – an important consideration for a small, busy office. Early feedback has been very positive so the new Brothers are well worth a look in you’re in the market for a new mono multifunction printer.
