Good solid HP Printer. Office workhorse for colour ptints of fairly small volumes - our usage does not justify laser printing.

First machine had one faulty print-head. Machine was replaced under warranty.
Print-head alignment is always out according to the maintenance routine and some banding does occur on odd occasions.
Blurred/smeared ink delivery has happened more than I would have expected though it is usually resolved by running the print-head cleaning sequence.
If the printer decides for itself that it needs to run a print-head clean it does seem to take quite a long time to complete which can be frustrating if it happens in the middle of printing a job.
Print colours can be a bit inaccurate and slightly disappointing at times.
Paper misfeeds happen from time to time, generally with thinner and/or recycled paper.
Would I buy another - only because of the price.

On multi print runs the grip/grab rollers leave two distict marks one inch from the lead edge of the paper. This stops me from using the printer for commercial printing. I therefor have to resort to laser printing for all work other than day to day printing. otherwise I have no problems

Had a kodak ESP5 as I was roped into the cheap ink business case they sold so well, what a crock, the printer died after 1 year and the amount of ink you had to use to get something decent was against what they talked about.
Then I got this printer after um'ing and ar'ing for weeks I decided on this printer, the only thing people kept going on about was the noise, not sure what they had before but it was no noisier than other HP's I've had and the Kodak which went pop.
The reproduction of 6x4 prints is impressive even in standard mode, not sure about larger prints so cant comment.
I find that with most printers, keeping the print heads moist is a must so if I dont use the printer for a week, I'll just print a test page, then when I need it the rpint is always sharp and crisp.
Only one gripe about this printer, the footprint is massive fro front to back, its a good 14 inches and that doesn't include the loading tray, which is sweet to use by the way. If you haven't got the shelf space for it, then this printer aint for you, if you can find the space...get it now, its a fab quality bit of kit.

Tray is a nuisance and it would be nice to see how much paper remains but otherwise easy to set up and very good print quality

I moved away from HP printers some time ago due to silly costs of inks etc. so thought it was time to give them another go
Must say so far I can't complain, bit noisey but nothing your wouldn't expect, text print is fine and colours seem good.
Can't quote on costs to run as yet but can't be any worse than the colour lasers!
if you want a simple printer without all the scanners, faxes and all the other nonsense I think you'll be hard pushed to find a better option....

Print quality - especially text is very good. Colours were a bit off and calibration is necessary.
On first setting up printer whirrs, rattles and thumps for about 20 minutes. This is apparently normal. However the printer does the same for about 5 minutes every time you turn it on. That can't be normal.
Also there is an issue with the power button light which flicks on and off when th printer is idle and requires 2 button pushes to switch off.
Unless these issues develop into problems, the printer appears to be a fine replacement for my old 970CXi
