We recently purchased a C1100 from you - one of several we have in school all supplied by Printware. Service from Printware has ben excellent however, I am experiencing a little difficulty with this latest model housed in the school office - documents are having a ghosting effect and this spoils the end quality. Please advise.
Our Comment:
Aww, you’re making us blush – thank you! As for the ghosting effect, it sounds like a problem with the fuser unit. Our Customer Care Department will be contacting you directly to help you get the problem fixed.

verry slow to print
Our Comment:
We can only assume you're referring to the speed of colour printing on the Epson C1100. It is very slow, at only 5 pages per minute – and that's once the engine is up to full-speed. This printer is designed to be used primarily as a black and white printer with the ability to print colour on the rare occasions the user needs it. It's bigger brother, the Epson C2800 is designed for more regular colour printing and prints at a more respectable 20 pages per minute in full colour.
Thanks for your review, we hope it helps other customers.

Nice printer. Problems with manual.
Manual omits several very important functions that the PRINTER DOES support. Like how to change a cartdrige at any time rather than just wen the toner expires. Or, how to unlock the toner drum so you can turn it to address printer problems.
Example: when I installed the printer the drum was in a position to insert the magenta toner NOT the yellow toner. I didn't notice and just blindly followed the instructions. Obviously this error was soon found but the manual didn't tell me how to get the two toners out so I could coreect the error. Example, the use of the menus on the front panel is hardly mentioned at all yet a lot of useful stuff gets done through that.
So printer = very good
manual = very bad
Therefore rating is set as a balance of these two things

We have had three of these printers. The print quality is excellent and the printer is fast. However, all toners leak and we have had now five (5) original Epson toners which have leaked. The last leak was so bad that it ruined all printer consumables, including the waste container. The Epson service is a joke, they "fixed" the printer and said that we have to buy the consumables - thats £400. After installing them, the printer did not work but ruined the consumables again. At this point we have lost nearly £1000 for servicing one printer. The other two printers had similar problems, one developed a fault with white stripes and Epson charged £150 for service which did not help. We had to scrap the printers as it was much cheaper to buy new. I will never buy Epson again.

This printer not fast, but it does not curl the paper, and it will print on both sides of card without leaving skid marks. The quality of print, and especially photographs, is excellent: they are not over-saturated as is the case with some printers. Colour printing is fairly expensive, but black printing is very reasonable. Consumables always last longer than advertised, and the colour printing is not as expensive as might be thought. There is some inconsistency in the quality of these printers. Test a new printer thoroughly and, if it is not right, send it back immediately, Epson support is good, and they have replaced defective cartridges and a photoconductor unit very promptly.
