its all its cracked up to be and printware cant be faulted too

I bought this for printing onto DVD and CD. Its excellent for that. I also use it to print out a proof sheet with each photo job I do so clients can see at a glance what images the discs contain. I use Tetenal Spectra jet High Glossy 264g/m paper and set the printer to use the sRGB colour profile and the images are fine and do the job well. Its worth experimenting with profiles or get a custom one made to get the very best from this printer if you want to take full advantage of its capabilities. Its my first Canon printer but probably not my last

the ip700 is a very good printer.I have always had EPSON printers,this is a better alround printer.What I liked was the FULL set of inks. Photo printing is very good as is the CD print unit.Storage tray for plain paper a very good idea. The only annoying thing is the TIME the machine takes changing from one function to the other. But I can live with that.

I purchased a cannon IP4700 a few months ago,the only comment I can make is it does every thing I require of it, I print a lot of photographs and emails and it produces excellent results, and lets be fair thats all I want.

The printer produces very good results and the speed is OK once it starts to print. However it does take a long time before it starts to print. I makes quite a lot of whirring noises similar to a non pick up of paper but not quite. Is it going through a warm up similar to photo copies? Please advise the cost of replacement cartridges, whether bought as a set or individually. Thank you Michael

The whirring noise you can hear is likely to be a combination of the print heads charging and the paper pick-up roller assembly positioning itself ready to start the print sequence. There will always be these "whirring" noises from printers, although it shouldn't be at an unbearable level.

I reviewed the printer recently and I felt that the start up took a long time prior to actually printing. I think that I was to blame as I did not lower the front cover soon enough. If I now open it straight away it seems to do one short cycle prior to printing and then it prints straiht away. The quality of the print is very very good for a printer of this price

Although the disc supplied with the printer may not contain the drivers needed for Windows 7, you can download the appropriate Windows 7 printer driver for the iP4700 from the Canon site.

If the supplied driver disc doesn't work, you can download the current driver file here.

The dimensions of the Pixma iP4700 when unpacked are 43.1cm wide, 29.6cm deep and 15.3cm high.

The Canon iP4700 will work with MAC OS X v.10.3.9 to 10.5. Driver software for newer OS should be available to download from the Canon website. If you are running on a newer version of MAC please let us know and we can check the compatibility.

Very good printer lived up to my expectations,very good quality prints.

I was a bit frustrated with my new printer at first because it took ages to set up. The printer didn't come with a lead to connect it to my PC, which was disappointing too. However, now it's all up and running, it's great, quiet, quick and great quality. I'm making photo Christmas cards with it.
