It's definitely a printer! |

Overall I am pleased with this printer. However, there are a couple of little issues which would prevent me giving it full marks.
Warming up before print jobs is a loooong process. None of this running a quick sheet off, Oh no.. One must wait for it to go through the whole wake up process. But that's why we have minesweeper of course, to while away the time.
Next thing is the noise. Man! This is one noisy little beast. Fortunately I have a binaural headset on the telephone otherwise I would find it difficult to hear calls.
And finally. The cost of ink. I can buy six blocks of ink for a model 8870 for £77.00. I get two (smaller) blocks of ink and it costs me almost a hundred quid! How can this be?
On the plus side.
Very good print quality, vibrant colours, good black text.
Would I buy another one? Sorry, not a chance. Back to the the good old Epson Laser next time.
Our Comment:
Thanks very much for your review – it's great to get feedback from people actually living with the printer and using it every day.
For the benefit of other customers reading this, we would like to reply to your comments about the inks. The ColorQube 8870 is 3-4 times the price of this model, and was designed with running costs in mind, it was expensive to buy but very cheap to run meaning it was great for people printing high volumes. This 8570 was designed to be cheaper to purchase, but with higher running costs so better for people not printing huge volumes. So, if you're printing large volumes, maybe the 8870 is worth the extra initial cost, if not, the ColorQube 8570 offers the same great quality at a fraction of the initial start-up cost.
Thanks again for your review.

had a phasor 8560 which was brilliant! this printer is very good and faster, but has an annoying "whistle" at times not sure if it's a fault or not, also seems to be louder when printing lots

This printer provides excellent colour graphics printing, but the colour photo printing does give a slightly grainy look.
The waxy inks mean it is impossible to write on printed areas of the document.
Setup was very straightforward, and works well with Mac. Many controls for print quality and output. These are comprehensive and easy to use for those with colour knowledge. The output quality was good on the automatic settings too.

The accuracy of the colour has been good and printing rapid.
However, I notice that the first print out in the morning of a duplex page has been poor – the reverse side has been incomplete and smeared. This was never an issue with the 8560, 8550, 8400, 8200 etc.

Excellent value, especially with the Xerox £200 cash back. Colour significantly better than my previous Xerox 8500. Cost per page may be an issue for high volume users.
Our Comment:
Thanks for your review. You may have a point about running costs for high-volume printing, the ColorQube 8870 is the same machine as the 8570, just more expesive to buy - but it give much lower running costs. This may be a better option for high-volume printers.

I was attracted by the very competitive pricing of the printer, and pleased by the environmentaly friendly consumables. The quality of the print is very good, and combined with an in-built network print-server it pretty much covers all the bases.

This is the 3rd Xerox of the 8500 series I have had,and I am quite satisfied with it, as I was with the previous models. I have those 3 over a period of about 7 years, my previous printer I passed on to a friend who is totally enthralled with it.

we have a colorqube 8570 printer it was a good price when we got it it has finally ran out of black ink still finding the easy answer whether to buy new or replace cartridge good quality printing BUT downside if you laminate just dosent work as turns ink green and smudgy quite noisy and does have a long wake up process but it has done us for 6 months now desision time 148.00 for black how many more do i need we still have our oki printer just too expensive for ink
Our Comment:
You need to use cold lamination pouches if you want to laminate the prints on this type of printer.

Prospective purchasers should be aware that this model does not offer duplex printing on card, otherwise it is just as good as all the previous Xerox machines.
Our Comment:
That's a good point, thank you Cristina. All printers with a duplex unit will rarely manage to flip a piece of paper over that weighs more than approx 130gsm.

Bought this to update from a 8560. First major plus is the sleep mode works really well (the 8560 used inks all the time as it woke up and went to sleep at random). Second plus is it installed easily and works with Windows 7 without issues.

Excellent machine if a little noisey. Seems to do all it says on the box. A definate step up from my last Phaser 750 and I hope a bit cheaper to run.
Little confused with the driver instalation. 've loaded it onto two computers (used separatly) and on one I have 8570 dn and the other 8570 dn p2 and another p3.

This is not as quite and quick as the previous printer we had which was the Xerox Phaser 6180DN Printer.
However, it does do the job and hopefully the cost of the ink should be cheaper
overall.
