Intended to buy the Brother DCP8060, but was the Samsung came highly recommended by Printware. Best buy i've encountered for black and white multifunction printers so far...

Once the machine had been unpacked and installed, it was hooked up to our network. For those with a static IP address, this is a doddle. However, a word of caution for any users with a network where the IP address can change. If the IP address changes, you will need to go into the back office functions of the printer and set the IP address so that the printer once again is recognised. This printer, one of 7 in our offices has a heavy workload handling long print runs of cheques (2,000 or so per week) and up to 3,000 faxes. It is all handled with ease. I would recommend those that are punishing the printer with heavy workloads to have a print server to speed up the processes and free up the CPU on workstations. There are very few jams, maybe 2 per thousand and ocassional pickup of 2 pieces of paper, but all in all we are very happy with the performance so far and would certainly recomend this to any business large or small.

Overall we are very impressed with the above printer. We like the fact that the printer can take a whole ream of paper and have the capability of printing double sided. Additionally, the printing quality is good even with the toner save button on. The only critisms we have are that you can not fit much paper into the multi purpose tray and when the printer is on but not printing there is quite a loud humming sound.

Bought this on a whim as it was about £100 more than I intended to spend but it has been a great printer, no real problems in use and an easy set up. Almost tempted to buy another whilst they are still available for if this one breaks but I don't think it will for a few years yet.

The printer was great to start off with however, as time went on we encountered many issues from the software to hardware. I would avoid Samsung for printers, their support isn't great either. Xerox is probably the way to go.

Our Comment:

If anyone has any problems with technical support please call us. We have great relationships with the manufacturers and can normally get any issue resolved quickly.
