Magicolor 1650EN Printer - Original printer was defective on receipt. You responded quickly by eMail with advice on action. It took Minolta 4 weeks to replace the item do to a mess up by their admin. It took several phone calls to get action from them.

The instructions to unpack were in sign language and I got to the point where I had to summon up the courage to open certain lids that appeared to be stuck - I was worried they might break. It was all fine though. The installation software works well on XP, OSX 10.6 and Ubuntu 9.10. However, getting the printer to work on the network was a challenge. I managed to make it work by setting a fixed IP address (turning off DHCP). It wouldn't work with DHCP. Not an issue but I suspect that the instructions assumed more network knowledge than I had. Overall I'm pleased with it.

Our Comment:

This seems to be another case of manufacturers trying to save money by making instructions multi-lingual and getting it horribly wrong. We know Konica appreciate customer feedback as much as we do so we'll pass on your comments about the instructions and also the issues you had with networking.

It is smaller and quieter than my previous KM duplex colour laser. It remains to be seen whether the operating costs are high. It does seem to go through a lot of toner on the default settings.

Very pleased with my Konica Minolta 1650EN. It is quite slow starting up, but once on it prints well. I like the fact that I can set it for different thicknesses of paper.
