This printer is very reliable. Its paper handling is excellent—no jams. It will print on both sides of card without leaving skid marks. The print quality is good, though it will not print photographs as well as the Epson C1100. It is beautifully quiet and smooth in operation. The consumables last slightly longer than advertised, and the cost of colour printing is very reasonable. Black printing is rather expensive compared to some printers, though, and it is black that is used most. If the cost of black toner could be brought down, this printer would be excellent.

Thanks for your review.
Mr Findlay refers to double-sided, or duplex, printing in his review - please note that this feature is only available on the C2800DN and C2800DTN.

It performs well, is much quieter than our new lexmark laser, Prints quickly (much faster at starting to print than the lexmark). It looks nice and feels solid. Well done Epson

I bought this to replace my previous Xerox Phaser 6180N, which is almost identical (same chassis) and was a good printer but uneconomic to replace fuser unit when it went wrong after 3½ years.
One of my key criteria this time was the availability of 3rd party toner, as OEM toner is simply uneconomic on many smallish colour lasers.
So far this printer has exceeded my expectations because a) unlike the Xerox it takes standard PC2700 SODIMMs (so I've upgraded mine to 512MB at zero cost with RAM from an old laptop), and b) the colour rendering (especially blue) is better, something I've noticed on other Epsons (and Dells).
Unfortunately it will not accept any of the 6180 consumables despite the fact that they all physically fit perfectly (and vice versa in case you were wondering), but hopefully I can buy cartridge chips as I did for the Xerox to enable me to use up my Xerox toners.
My only complaints are that the colour registration is not perfect or consistent (there is no adjustment, just 'Auto') and the adjustment to centre the print on the paper is too coarse, only 0.5mm steps, but despite this the front/back duplex alignment and consistency even using the sheet feeder is better than several duplexes I've used.
Overall I'm very happy with it and would recommend it.
