Canon MX7600 not all it promises |

I bought MX7600 because of auto duplex and promise of Canon legendary reliability and print quality. Print quality is superb, particularly with colour copies. However there are downsides. Cartridges are very expensive and compatibles aren't available because of its special pigment ink. It also uses a clear cartridge which adds to the cost. Reliability for me has been poor. On the first machine I bought the paper feed went wrong at 18 months old and after paying £70 + VAT for an engineer to call out he said the cost of repair would be greater than a new machine and suggested I ran it till it failed - which I did, and it failed after another 3 months. I then bought another MX7600 thinking it would be better. But no. On this one the duplex doc feed went wrong but inside the warranty period and so engineer call out didn't cost me. It took five engineers to come out over a period of four months and fiddle with the machine, eventually replacing the doc feed assembly entirely. Must have cost Canon a packet. Machine seems to be OK for the moment but I'm not holding my breath. Summary: Good print and copy quality, poor product reliability, good service back-up during warranty period.
